A steady trickle of awards is coming from the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific for work in the Micronesian islands.
Some military construction awards present opportunities for subcontracting for established companies in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Most recently, the Jacobs/B&M Joint Venture has been awarded a $46 million “firm-fixed price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity architect-engineer services modification” to a previously awarded contract for design, engineering, specification writing, cost estimating, and related services. This award brings the total cumulative value of the contract to $145 million. Work will be performed in Guam and the Northern Marianas Islands, 75%; Hawaii, 5%; Diego Garcia, 5%; and Australia,15%; and will be completed by July 2025. Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Pacific made the award, according to a June 18 release from the U.S. Department of Defense.
In other construction news, GPPC Inc. has brought in aggregates by barge for the construction of a new airport runway in Yap. This project is funded by the national government of the Federated States of Micronesia, according to a June 19 post by the Yap State Government. mbj
