The Guam Contractors Association awarded 22 scholarships totaling $37,500 to students who will be attending GCA Trades Academy. Recipients are pursuing training in a range of skilled trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, heavy equipment operation, diesel mechanics, electronic systems technology, safety, and construction management.
South Pacific Petroleum Corp. donated $10,000 to the Ayuda Foundation for Typhoon Sinlaku relief, which went towards essential medical supplies, including medications, first-aid kits, and emergency medical equipment distributed to clinics, shelters, and relief centers in Chuuk and the Northern Mariana Islands. In addition, SPPC donated six pallets of bottled water, equivalent to 504 cases.

Bank of Guam and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines are donating $122,500 in grants through the FHLB Des Moines Member Impact Fund to three non-profits in Guam. I Guma Mina’åse’, a program of the Guam Department of Public Health & Social Services, will receive $52,500, including Bank of Guam’s $15,000 contribution, to provide home-like care for children in Child Protective Services custody and meet essential needs, from beds and meals to enrichment and life skills. Inspire Marianas will receive $52,500, including Bank of Guam’s $15,000 contribution. In partnership with CLUTCH Guam, this initiative will bring essential sports equipment to village gyms, creating safe, active spaces for youth across Guam, especially in underserved communities. Inetnon Gefpå’go will receive $17,500, including Bank of Guam’s $5,000 contribution, to help cover costs associated with the Uritao Mentorship Program, including coordination, space, and materials.

United Airlines has launched a Miles on a Mission campaign to support ongoing Typhoon Sinlaku recovery efforts. The University of Guam and the UOG Endowment Foundation raised $18,786 through cash and in-kind contributions for Typhoon Sinlaku recovery. This included $11,006 in cash donations and $7,780 in in-kind donations.
Cash donations were used to purchase solar powered fans and solar power banks.
In-kind donations included $7,780 worth of bottled water, canned goods, care packages and hygiene products.
Marianas Pacific Distributors Inc., through its supplier Anheuser-Busch, contributed to recovery efforts by donating 42,336 cans of water to the American Red Cross. The company also assisted with unloading containers for local organizations and partners, including The Diocese of Chalan Kanoa and IP&E.
McDonald’s of Saipan donated $10,000 to The American Red Cross NMI Chapter supporting typhoon relief efforts following the aftermath of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
The Saipan Humane Society, Humane World for Animals and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals provided more than 2,000 veterinary and supply distribution services, helping at least 1,100 animals. Humane World for Animals deployed responders and several veterinarians to Saipan to assist the Saipan Humane Society and treated animals from more than 450 households with surgery, parasite treatment, vaccinations and emergency spay or neuter services.
Pacific Mission Aviation transporting the Samaritan’s Purse team from Guam to Saipan, PMA flew a total of three round trips and also took one team from Saipan to Tinian and back to assess the hospital there.
Micronesian Brokers Inc. CNMI coordinated donations of food, milk, and hygiene products through nonprofit organizations distributing relief supplies throughout the NMI community. The company also worked with overseas suppliers, including Anchor New Zealand, to help facilitate the arrival and distribution of donated goods to the NMI.
Other groups which have contributed to relief efforts in the NMI are the E-land group and Core Tech International.
Marianas Business Plaza in Saipan has offered free space to organizations involved in typhoon recovery efforts.
Central Coast Neurological Surgery PC enabled the donation of a piano to Guam Regional Medical City by the Aloha Piano Quartet.
A musical event with live performances by international artists including pianist Chih-Long Hu and violinist Miroslav Hristov of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, along with pianist Pei-Chun Liao of the University of Taipei, followed the donation.
Atkins Kroll and the Lupus Awareness Group of Guam hosted a community Spring Fair in May at the AK dealership for local vendors, families, and community members in support of lupus awareness in Guam. The event offered attendees an early opportunity to shop for Mother’s Day gifts from handcrafted goods, including floral arrangements, leis, jewelry, accessories, crafts, and sweet treats. Popular food vendors including Onra, Island Hopper and Big Boys Burger Pitstop.
AK also donated $1,914 to the Lupus Awareness Group in Guam as its Community Matters recipient for May.
The American Waterworks Association Western Pacific Subsection donated $1,000 to the University of Guam’s School of Engineering.
Girl Scouts, troop leaders and parents, in partnership with the Office of Sen. Shelly V. Calvo, successfully assembled 50 dignity kits, filled with essential hygiene items to support women in local homeless shelters.
The Make-A-Wish NextGen board in partnership with Grey by Grant held a Mother’s Day floral arrangement fundraiser for the organization.mbj
