The Guam Visitors Bureau’s board of directors formally approved the draft tourism recovery plan.
The board met at its final board meeting of 2024 on Dec. 23, a week after the plan was presented at the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association tourism recovery forum.
The next step, according to GVB board chairman, George Chiu, is for GVB management to go through the plan and to begin enacting it.
Already, parts of the plan are in motion, said Chiu, referring to the issuance of airline incentives; a step identified in the plan to achieve its determined goals.
South Korean outbound seat capacity is expected to rise in the coming months and the opposite appears to be the case for Japanese outbound seat capacity according to GVB’s most recent industry recovery update.
The board emphasized however, that the plan is fluid and is subject to change through changes in the market and board guidance.
A position description and job announcement will be soon published according to members of the search committee for GVB’s next CEO and president.
During the meeting, the board looked over a slightly revised version of the job announcement and will work with its legal counsel to finalize the description. mbj
