Charter flights from Starlux Airlines brought over 600 Taiwanese for the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Guam Visitors Bureau said in a press release, that the first two of four flights landed on Jan. 25 and Jan. 26 bringing 179 and 171 passengers respectively.
The arrivals were greeted with Guam branded apparel, Made-in-Guam snacks, and meal coupons to dine at one of six of the hotels on the island.
Gerald S.A. Perez, acting president and CEO of GVB, said in the release, ”We wanted to kick off our visitor’s stay with an island-style arrival experience and highly encourage our Guam residents and industry partners to show them the best that our island has to offer.” Perez said that this marks its third year working with the airline to bring charter flights to the island for the holiday. In addition, Perez mentioned that the bureau worked with several travel agencies to help bring visitors to Guam for the occasion.
These include Phoenix Tours, SpunkTours, and Lion Travel.
More visitors are scheduled to arrive on sold out flights on Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 numbering at 356.

Leadership talks moves to next month
The GVB board meeting originally planned for Jan. 29 was canceled and moved to Feb. 27. Planned for the meeting was the discussion of the candidates for next general manager and deputy general manager.
Currently, the board’s Search Committee's recommendation is Régine Biscoe Lee for GM and EJ Calvo for deputy GM. mbj
