Dessert shop to open at Pia Marine; Håfaloha to emphasize food at new location

A Japanese-style cake and pastry shop is expected to open May 31 on the premises of the Pia Marine Hotel and Condominium, replacing Japan Market.

Emi Heacock, Pecoli owner and newcomer to the business community, said her shop will offer cakes, cookies, puddings and various pastries catered to local residents. Pecoli is a play on the Japanese word for “hungry.”

The building, directly across from the entrance of the hotel, is approximately 500 square . . .
