Legal action sought after Bloomberg article on Saipan casino
A Feb. 15 story from Bloomberg Newsweek titled “A Chinese Casino Conquered a Piece of America” enraged Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC, the casino’s owner and operator, and at least one lawsuit is making its way to court.
The article, written as a first-person feature by Matthew Campbell, claims Imperial Pacific paid millions of dollars to the Northern Mariana Islands governor’s family members, ignored local laws when conducting its business and hired illegal workers for the construction of the casino.
