Palau bans use of plastic bags

KOROR, Palau — President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr. signed the ban of the use of plastic shopping bag into law on Nov. 8, a move which is aimed at living up to the brand of Pristine, Paradise Palau.

The new law, Public Law 10-14, prohibits businesses from importing and distributing plastic bags to customers and authorizes a plastic education program to educate the public on the destructive effects of plastic use.
