Diabetes association president passes away

HAGATNA — Carl T. C. Butler, president emeritus and former longtime president of the Guam Diabetes Association, passed away Oct. 25 at the age of 74. 

Butler became president in 1992, according to the association, and promoted education regarding diabetes, successfully fundraised and promoted outreach and launched an annual conference of the association. He worked closely with the medical and non-profit communities and was recognized by the Guam Legislature for his services to the community in 2007. 

Butler had been diagnosed with diabetes at age 36.
