KOROR, Palau — By summer of 2018, the Okeanos Foundations for the Sea will bring a modernized, traditional double-hulled, open ocean canoe to Palau.
In August, a memorandum of understanding was forged between Palau and the foundation to bring the fossil-free, sustainable transport to Palau. Called Vaka Moto, the vessel can carry a maximum of 12 people and three tons of cargo. The canoe can navigate in very shallow waters and access land where there are no jetties.
