Employers in Guam and in the Northern Mariana Islands are generally familiar with the L-1A visa. According to the United States Citizen and Immigration Services website, “the L-1A nonimmigrant classification enables a U.S. employer to transfer an executive or manager from one of its affiliated foreign offices to one of its offices in the United States.” Since many businesses on Guam and in the NMI are foreign-owned, it is common practice to use the L-1A visa category to transfer executives and managers here.
