U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Kiska is set to depart Hilo, Hawaii for a new home port in Guam.
“This vessel will be a replacement to the CGC Assateague that we have here currently. The Assateague will be decommissioned Sept. 22 and the CGC Kiska will take her place,” U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam told the Journal in a statement.
USCGC Kiska was commissioned in 1990 and has spent its entire operational career home ported in Hilo . . .
