Trump signs NMI CW bill

  CAPITOL HILL, Saipan — Gregorio Camacho “Kilili” Sablan, the Northern Mariana Island’s representative to congress said that President Donald J. Trump signed into law the NMI Economic Expansion Act on Aug. 23. Sablan introduced the bill earlier this year in response to Chinese construction companies using some 4,000 CW permits, forcing nurses and other foreign workers to leave the NMI.

  The bill protects established NMI businesses that employ CW workers by barring the use of the limited CW permits for new construction workers. The NMI Economic Expansion Act also puts more money into the training fund for . . .
