Navy responds to Journal questions on ship repair property

BARRIGADA, Guam — Joint Region Marianas and Naval Facilities Engineering Marianas responded on Aug. 3 to Journal questions concerning the return of the former Guam Shipyard/Ship Repair Facility property to the government of Guam.

In the fiscal 2018 National Defense Authorization Act, which passed the House on July 14, Madeleine Z. Bordallo, Guam’s delegate to Congress, inserted a provision requiring the Navy to convey the facility property to the Guam Economic Development Authority “at no cost to the government of Guam.”
