The welcome wine, women at the top and wanting white rice

Travel not only broadens the mind, it concentrates it wonderfully on the moment. 

                 The three weeks and some change my husband, Ken and I spent off-island was a mix of new and familiar experiences.


  Everywhere we went was hot — hotter than the Marianas. We suffered through a heat wave in London (officially recognized by the weather office after five days), sought English pubs with cooling breezes . . .
