Tinian breaks ground for transfer station

SAN JOSE, Tinian — The Tinian mayor’s office and the Northern Mariana Islands Office of the Governor held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Tinian Transfer Station on May 31.

The three-acre facility will function as a community convenience center — consisting of an office, truck scale, tipping floor, container storage yard, recycle yard stockpile, recycling building, ponding basin and a septic/leaching field — for residents of Tinian to bring their solid waste. Maeda Pacific Corp. will construct the facility over a period of 270 days . . .
