Micronesian leaders urged to start MIF contributions

TUMON, Guam — Palau President Thomas E. Remengesau Jr. urged the chief executives of the 22nd Micronesian Islands Forum, which was hosted in Guam from May 1 to May 3, to start contributing to fund the Micronesian Islands Forum Secretariat, which the leaders agreed to establish at the previous year’s forum.

Remengesau said that a secretariat, which would be based in Palau, will give the organization a “more integrated approach in dealing with regional issues” by providing an administrative structure.
