MANGILAO, Guam — The Consolidated Commission on Utilities approved on June 6 a resolution authorizing the Guam Power Authority to petition the Public Utilities Commission to award Phase II renewable acquisition bid of two 30-megawatt proposals each to Hanwha Energy Corp. and KEPCO-LG CNS Consortium for a total of 120 megawatts. GPA determined that these proposals would provide substantial savings to GPA and its ratepayers over the term of the contracts based on current and projected Levelized Energy Adjustment Clause rates, with an estimated first five-year savings beginning in 2019 to be more than $43 million.
