Torres declares state of significant emergency for resignation of CUC board

CAPITOL HILL, Saipan — Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres issued on May 16 and amended on May 22 a declaration of a state of significant emergency for the Northern Mariana Islands as a result of the resignation of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s board of directors, which prevents CUC from conducting proper procurement to purchase a replacement generator at CUC power plant No. 1, at Lower Base, Saipan.
