Former official says cabotage exemption would work for Mariana Islands

Esther Kia’aina, former assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs, has raised the idea of an exemption to cabotage for the Mariana Islands.

Speaking with the Journal after the Bank of Guam Economic Forum on April 20 at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort, she said a cabotage exemption could ease transportation issues and add benefits for the Marianas chain.
