News flash – Last permit secured to lay undersea cable

TAMUNING, Guam — The Army Corps of Engineers has approved what is the last major permit needed for Docomo Pacific to begin deployment of its Atisa submarine fiber-optic cable system, the telecommunications provider announced today. Following a comprehensive environmental impact study which involved consultations with various federal resource agencies, the Army Corps of Engineers issued the permit, allowing Docomo to proceed with the marine laying and shore landings of the cable between Guam and Saipan, Tinian and Rota.

            The cable is expected to be in operation by late June . . .
