Okinawa governor to file injunction against Marines base construction

TOKYO — Takeshi Onaga, the governor of Okinawa, has taken part in a protest rally demanding that the U.S. and Japanese governments scrap plans to enlarge the U.S. military base at Camp Schwab, promising supporters that he would “definitely not allow” the plan to go ahead. 

The governor’s participation in the rally, held on March 25, came shortly after Onaga announced that he is considering filing an injunction against the decision by the national government in Tokyo to carry out construction work to enlarge the U.S. Marine Corps . . .
