SDA contests income taxes and penalties

The General Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists is contesting a notice of deficiency issued by the Department of Revenue and Taxation for 2011 and 2012 income taxes and penalties.

DRT issued the notice to SDA on Nov. 1 for $195,107.30 in income taxes and $81,945.06 in penalties for 2011 and $351,104.74 in income taxes and $126,397.71 in penalties for 2012 after determining that the activities of the SDA Clinic and Simply Food restaurant and grocery store are not related to SDA’s exempt purpose.
