Macy’s among retailers sued for alleged false reference pricing

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles City Attorney Michael N. Feuer announced on Dec. 9 that his office sued national retailers Macy’s, J.C. Penney, Sears and Kohl’s, alleging that to increase sales, each of the companies used false reference pricing schemes to mislead customers into believing items were being sold at significant discounts.
