Guam speaker to push ahead with minimum wage effort; castigates Chamber and GHRA

  TAMUNING, Guam — Sen. Benjamin J.F. Cruz, speaker of the 34th Guam Legislature and chairman of the Committee on Appropriation and Adjudication, was the keynote speaker at the chamber’s monthly membership lunch on Feb. 21 at the Sheraton Laguna Guam Resort.

  Cruz introduced legislation that raised Guam’s minimum wage in 2015 from $7.25 to $8.25 per hour. Any further potential increase was held back, pending a study to be produced by the Guam Department of Labor, viewed as a compromise measure. The study saw delays.
