KOROR, Palau — A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Feb. 28 in Palau for the fiber optic cable landing station, marking the beginning of the construction of the first-ever submarine cable system for the island nation that has been relying solely on satellite connections.
Johvanna Yaoch, board member of the Belau Submarine Cable Corp., told the Journal that the groundbreaking ceremony for the cable landing station “signifies how close we are to the actual scheduled submarine cable landing date.”
