GARAPAN, Saipan — The divert airfield initiative on Tinian is now in the execution phase, Col. Michael Cardoza of the U.S. Air Force told the Journal following his presentation to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce membership on Feb. 1.
The development for the project, which the Air Force aims to have completed in 2019 or 2020, he said, would include a parking apron for aircraft, a cargo pad, fuel tanks and a maintenance building for storing equipment. The Air Force’s original requirements were to find a location to put up . . .
