Palau heads toward ‘competitive’ minimum wage

KOROR, Palau — President Thomas E. Remengesau Jr. is proposing an across-the-board yearly minimum wage increase from $4 an hour to $8.50 an hour by 2026. The realities of the market dictate that it is ready for a periodic wage hike, he told reporters in a press conference.

The president said he is confident that the economic growth Palau is enjoying will support the increase in minimum wage.
