The Commonwealth Ports Authority will start on several projects this year for the Saipan International Airport.
Anticipated projects include:
- Updating the runway light system from the currently inoperable visual approach slope indicator system to the precision approach path indicator system and installing runway end identifier lights in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements. The project will be funded by the CPA, and after the procurement and installation, the FAA will assume ownership and maintenance of the equipment. According to the CPA, the proposal package is under review by CPA and FAA . . .
