FORT LEE, Va. — The Defense Commissary Agency updated how savings are measured and reported at the commissary, according to a Jan. 30 release. The new calculation of savings does not change the actual dollars that patrons save but gives them a better understanding of price comparisons in their local area to better reflect the cost of living.
To account for geographic differences in cost of living, Congress now requires DeCA to report of savings regionally, comparing prices with two or three commercial grocers in the local area of each commissary in the United States.
