MAJURO, Marshall Islands — “The future of the Marshall Islands is in fishing, and we’re investing in it,” said Pacific International Inc. CEO Joseph “Jerry” Kramer in Majuro in early January, talking about his company’s development of a facility in the capital to support the fishing industry.
PII expects to open the first net repair facility in the country on Jan. 31. It will cater to purse seiners, hundreds of which use Port Majuro during the year to offload their tuna hauls, re-provision and refuel.
