FADANG, Saipan — HK Express, a Hong Kong–based low-cost carrier, launched three times weekly air service from Hong Kong to Saipan on Jan. 17. The route is served with an all-economy class Airbus A320, seating 180 passengers, according to Journal files. The airline had applied with the U.S. Department of Transportation for a foreign air carrier permit on March 4 to begin service to Guam and Saipan. The carrier launched its Guam service, also four times per week, on Dec. 15.
