The District Court of Guam denied a motion for summary judgment filed by Gurusamy Inc., which does business as Health Services of the Pacific. The company was accused of discrimination in firing an employee who was 33 weeks pregnant.
Marlene M. Ongesii, formerly employed with HSP as a medical social work supervisor, filed a charge of discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Jan. 24, 2014 for discrimination during her pregnancy and received a right-to-sue letter on Feb. 26, 2015. She filed her complaint on May 26, 2015.
