Decisions on land leases will send long-term messages

A couple of  major hotels in Saipan — namely the Hyatt Regency and the Fiesta Resort — are closing in on less than five years until their leases expire with the Northern Mariana Islands Department of Public Lands. Another three hotels — Saipan Grand Hotel, Coral Ocean Point and Pacific Islands Club Saipan — will see their leases expire within 10 years.

  The Hyatt told the Journal on Page 3 it intends to start discussions with DPL “in the very near future,” and the other hotels likely have the task prudently on their radars as well. Both the Hyatt and the Fiesta . . .
