First female Guam Guard soldier heads battalion-level unit

BARRIGADA, Guam — Guam Army National Guard Master Sergeant Agnes Quintanilla Diaz, the first

female to successfully complete the in-residence U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy in 2015, was promoted to command sergeant major and took responsibility of a battalion-level unit on Dec. 3. She is assigned to the 203rd Regional Training Institute, Fort Juan Muna in Harmon.

Diaz began her military career in 1984 when she enlisted in the Guam Army National Guard as a patient administrative specialist and was most recently assigned as first sergeant of the 721st Signal Company, where she led soldiers in the mission . . .
