KOROR, Palau — President Thomas E. Remengesau Jr. claimed victory in the Palau presidential election, winning by 264 votes against his opponent, Surangel S. Whipps Jr.
This marks Remengesau’s fourth four-year term as president. He served back-to-back terms from 2001–2009 and a third term from January 2013 to present.
