New U.S. military commander appointed for Marianas

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rear Adm. Shoshana S. Chatfield will be assigned as U.S. Pacific Command representative for Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia and Palau. She is also announced as commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas; and commander, Joint Region Marianas, according to a Sept. 30 U.S. Department of Defense release.

Chatfield is presently serving as deputy U.S. military representative to the NATO Military Committee, Brussels, Belgium.

Originally from Garden Grove, Calif., Chatfield holds a 1987 bachelor’s in international relations, French language and literature from Boston University, a 1997 master’s of . . .
