GARAPAN, Saipan — Gov. Ralph Deleon Guerrero Torres updated officials and members of the Saipan Chamber of Commerce on efforts in solving labor issues in the Northern Mariana Islands. The Torres Administration had been leading efforts in asking the U.S. federal government, particularly the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services, to ease its restrictions on the CNMI-only Transitional Worker nonimmigrant visa cap.
Torres, along with Chamber Secretary Alexander A. Sablan, vice president of Tan Holdings, last month presented a collective position to the U.S. House of Representatives in an oversight hearing of the Committee on Natural Resources . . .
