Guam’s Taiwan Economic office may be slated for closure

Ken C.P. Hu, the director general of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Guam, announced on Sept. 29 at the 105th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) reception that he will be leaving Guam the next day to fill a role with the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Papua New Guinea.

The announcement comes shortly after a Sept. 23 article in the Taipei Times reported that the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has slated its Guam representative office for closure, among three others in Norway; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and Hamburg . . .
