From trash to treasure

The Puerto Rico Dump Regulatory Closure and conversion into a community park is at 78% completion, according to the Office of the Governor. The site was previously used for the disposal of non-hazardous solid waste until its closure in 2003, as required by the Environmental Protection Agency to prevent waste from entering the harbor and surrounding lagoon. The cost for the closure is $21,994,872. Black Micro Corp. began the closure project in June 2015.
