Communities with military bases are prospering. A recent study by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis finds that areas with military bases and related industries had the largest percentage gains in per-capita income. Jacksonville in North Carolina home of Marines based at Camp Lejeune saw a 66% increase in per-capita income. Killeen in Texas home of the Army's Fort Hood is now more affluent than Austin the Texas state capital and the University of Texas . . .
