Coast Guard to upgrade communications system and conduct survey of abandoned vessels

In June 2011 the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam is scheduled to receive and implement Rescue 21 the Coast Guard's advanced command control and communications system. The system is being installed in stages across the United States. As of Dec. 17 2009 more than 34 912 miles of coastline was covered by Rescue 21 in states in the Northeast mid-Atlantic Southeast Gulf Coast and part of the West Coast according to the deployment and implementation schedule posted on the Coast Guard's Web site . . .
